Ariel Abyssinia Workeneh is a collaborative pianist and teacher based in Houston, where she works with vocalists, string players, choirs, and composers, and keeps a private studio of her own students.
She holds a Bachelor of Music from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, where she studied under Professor Brian Connelly, and is an alumna of the piano department at Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
Her collaborative experience is extensive: chamber music festivals and new-music premieres at the Shepherd School, two years coaching and accompanying vocal students at Kinder HSPVA — choir concerts, college audition tapes, and senior recitals — and work as a piano accompanist for the Houston Boys Choir. She is also an alumna of the Brevard Music Festival.
Her favorite repertoire comes from the Romantic and New Music eras. She believes music is a form of expression and of healing, and teaches the fundamentals so that students earn the confidence to perform in whatever capacity they wish, to the fullness of their ability.
She has taught private lessons for more than eight years from her home studio to students of all ages, and serves as a piano lesson teacher at St. Thomas Episcopal School in Houston.

Ariel offers individual piano lessons from her home studio to students in grades K through 12 — from a first-time beginner finding middle C to an advanced student preparing auditions and recitals. Lessons are one-on-one and built around the student in front of her.
